MANDATORY PRE-SEASON MEETINGS FOR PLAYERS/PARENTS

In-person: February 17, 2026 at 5:30 p.m.

Coach Kroll will be available during Access on Thursday, February 12, in the Auxiliary Gym to answer questions from girls if they have any, or just want to say hi!

REGISTRATION

Registration for Spring sports is open! You can register on the Rock Canyon Athletics registration website for Spring tennis. This is a new registration system so you will need to upload NEW forms as instructed. Registration for Spring tennis will close on February 21. NO LATE REGISTRATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.

ATHLETIC PHYSICAL

Please also note, all players need to have a valid physical uploaded into their family account in the registration website. That is the only place you can submit physicals. I am not able to accept physicals on behalf of any athlete. It is hard to get into any provider right now for physicals! Many doctors’ offices will be unable to accommodate last minute requests for physicals. Check local urgent care centers, the Little Clinic at King Soopers, or other alternative medical facilities. Many will complete physicals for small fees.

SPRING 2026 SEASON

Our season begins on February 23, 2026. This is the first official day of tryouts for Spring tennis. More information about the season will be addressed in the pre-season meeting. Due to the early start and unpredictable weather, I am not planning to hold a pre-season camp. I will “open” the RCHS Tennis Courts from 3-5ish , weather permitting, on February 17-February 20. There will be supervision but there will not be structured pre-season camp.

TEAM STORE:

Our team store for merchandise is OPEN NOW and will close prior to February 23, 2026.

RCHS Girls Tennis Team Store 2026

Purchased items will come directly to your homes after purchase. This early opening of the store is just an opportunity to get some warmer weather gear for the season. If you intend to be part of the tennis team this spring it is expected you have warm RC gear to play in when representing the team at matches/tournaments. Note: Players will receive a short-sleeve practice top (to keep), and uniform top/bottoms (to return at the end of the season) as part of their registration and booster club fee.

If you have questions please feel free to jot them down and bring them to the pre-season meeting! I will address questions as best as I can.

WANT TO GET INVOLVED?? We are looking for volunteers to help with practices, match supervision, etc. Tennis experience required! If interested, please reach out to Coach Kroll.

Spring 2026 Tryouts

More information for tryouts for Spring 2026 will come in the spring. For information on last years tryout process please see below:

First day of tryouts is February 23, 2026 at 310 pm. Tryouts/regular season practice will be from 310 – 5/530 until further notice and weather permitting.

Tryouts will run for at the least the first week of the season or until skills can be assessed. Girls will be grouped in clusters based on skill level where they will begin playing against each other in a challenge style format. As girls begin to separate themselves from one another, coaches will determine doubles clusters where girls will play doubles challenge matches. Scores will be reported and coaches will track win-loss records, winning percentages, etc.

A note from Coach Kroll:

Large groups of registered participants in girls tennis will slow down our tryout process as coaches try to get a grasp of current level of play so we can get girls placed in groups with similarly skilled players. As I mentioned in our player/parent meeting, it is always my intent for girls to stay in the program. That being said, with such a large turnout and a very broad level of current skill, limited courts, limited coaches, and a short spring season, Coach Brian Vickery, Coach Krista Vickery and myself will consider restructuring our JV teams and/or limiting numbers in our program this year to ensure a positive experience for every person.

This may mean cuts, or a purely developmental JV team which focuses on bolstering fundamental skills in practices rather than attempting to play tennis matches without the necessary skills to do so. Once we determine what the offering will be in terms of numbers per team (JV vs potentially a developmental team) we will then determine what practices will look like in terms of number of days and times for each respective group – again, with the larger numbers and limited court space, we need to ensure that the girls participating are getting enough attention from our coaching staff to make this a positive experience for all. With this in mind, if you or your student-athlete are unable to commit to consistent attendance at practice and matches please consider not participating this spring season. It is hard for coaches to keep track of work schedules, family commitments, etc.

We will try to make these decisions by the end of the week and will communicate to each girl where they stand as we are able to get more time with them on court. We will also provide details on how a “restructuring” of JV impacts players, parents, # of matches, etc.

RCHS Summer 2025 Tennis Camp/League

This is a 7-week high school summer tennis league for Varsity and upper JV players. Program consists of 1 match per week on Wednesdays (either 8am or 930/10 am) and two practices per week (Tuesday & Thursday mornings, likely 8-10 but may stagger depending on numbers and have second practice 10-12). Matches are modified high school format with 2 singles lines and three singles lines for Varsity, and then JV style (doubles) matches. Each player should get a match each week but we stay flexible with numbers/travel/etc.

-Matches are on Wednesdays (either 8am or 930/10 am)

-Varsity is 2 singles matches and 3 doubles matches. 2 out of 3 sets with a 10 point tiebreaker for 3rd set.

-JV plays 8 game pro-sets with as many people playing as possible. We try to get everyone a match and coordinate the number of lines before we play. We always adjust based on numbers.

-7 weeks of matches starting on June 4th. We take the week of the 4th off.

Teams: Rock Canyon, Mountain Vista, Arapahoe, Valor, Chaparral, Heritage, two other teams TBD.

Cost: $400 per kid. 7 weeks, two practices, and matches each week this puts cost at less than $10 per hour on court. Summer tennis shirt/uniform provided. If you would rather only come to practices please indicate as much and there will be a reduced cost, still keeping cost per hour of court time to less than $10 per hour. Varsity and Upper JV will get priority with matches. Once I have an idea of numbers from other schools I may adjust some players to only practices if I am not able to accommodate everyone and there will be a reduced cost ($300).

This is an informal league (so different from JTT), but allows for competitive match play with other strong programs in the area.

Payment will be made on MySchool Bucks. Links will be provided at a later date following registration.
